Acetaminophen (Paracetamol) Safety

Acetaminophen (also called paracetamol) is in many medicines for pain, cold, and flu. Taking more than one medicine with acetaminophen can cause accidental overdose. Always check labels. Adults should not take more than 4,000 mg in one day; many experts recommend staying under 3,000 mg when possible. Space doses as directed on the label. If someone takes too much and has severe nausea, vomiting, or confusion, get urgent medical help.
